SUGARER LANE: LOOK RIGHT PENNY TO RELEASE EXPANDED EDITION OF AWESOME DEBUT
Dude it’s bad luck for a guitar player to touch drumsticks :(
Underage prog-pop metal prodigies Look Right Penny released their awesome first album back on Valentine’s Day. Titled Sugar Lane, it’s hook-stuffed as to beckon the most jaded metal naturalist back to technical, uber-produced jamz, and infectious as to overwhelm an old douche’s staunchest resistance to girly lyrics and chipmunky shrieking. In other words, Sugar Lane is in a class with Appetite For Destruction, Addicted, and White Pony: not without a flaw or two, but brazenly lovable to anyone not made of stone. Awesome songs one after another, no breaks for breathing. lol Why fight it?
Like those instant classics, Sugar Lane might be improved only by like adding more to it. And bam LRP delivers on that too: An expanded Sugar Lane is set for physical release via Bieler Bros. on September 25, with “awesome art” and four bonus tracks. I was told by producer Matt LaPlant (Sikth, Skindred) and label chief Jason Bieler that the extra jamz come from the year-spanning Sugar Lane sessions; by my own happy ears, I was informed that one is incredibly awesome (“Listen”) and one is an King Crimson-y instrumental that works great as Sugar Lane‘s closing theme (“Dancing Shogun”). Nice! Next up for LRP camp: sweet merch for my bod please!
