THE ACACIA STRAIN’S VINCENT BENNETT IS NOW A SHUT IN
Don’t worry, The Acacia Strain vocalist isn’t, like, turning into the fat dude from Se7en or anything. No no no no. He has, however, started a new band called Shut In. If you’re hoping for giant, wooly mammoths plodding riffs like the ones you usually get from TAS, you’re gonna be disappointed; based on the one song they’ve released so far, “Exit Wounds,” it seems that Shut In play much more traditionalist hardcore. Which means some of you crazy people who can’t look past TAS’ “deathcore” tag will actually like Shut In more. I won’t agree with those crazy people, but I do like “Exit Wounds” a whole lot — especially the second half, where it gets really epic and cinematic.
ANYWAY, the song is short by any standards that are not those of grindcore, so you should at least give it a listen here. The band, which also features Griffin Landa (formerly of Too Pure To Die) and Chris Cain (formerly of Bury Your Dead), will release a 7″ entitled Old Homes on August 21 via Landa’s own Dreadwind Records.
