UNSIGNED AND UNHOLY: THE END OF ALL REASON, EARTHRISE, DER HUNDS
Just because we haven’t posted any Unsigned and Unholy columns of late doesn’t mean there hasn’t been a glut of excellent unsigned talent swarming our inboxes; au contraire, there’s just too much good stuff to keep up with. After the jump, three of my recent faves:
- Earthrise: Heavy-as-elephant-balls post-NeurIsis-y metal with dreamy, atmospheric guitars and sickly, downtuned doom riffs = a winning combo. A little dash of prog helps these guys fit right in with bands like MS faves Black Sheep Wall. Stream their entire new album Eras Lost below or on Bandcamp.
- The End Of All Reason: Psycroptic drummer Joe Haley is involved with this band in some way, although it’s not clear exactly how; he’s not the producer (Jochem Jacobs of Textures took care of that in typically stellar fashion) and the band’s Facebook page lists Gert Sergeant as the drummer. But fret not: “I, Celestial,” the band’s lead single, is super Psycroptic-y! Check it out:
- Der Hunds: Kind of like if Torche has Chris Cornell singing for them. Not for everyone, but fans of either of the aforementioned should dig this. Great riffs, hard driving beat, fantastic vocals… hard not to like.
