TODAY IN SH*TTY HEALTH NEWS: CHI CHENG HAS PNEUMONIA AND JACK OSBOURNE HAS MS

These two stories really have nothing to do with another other than they’re both related to the health of members of the metal community, and they’re both depressing. In the interest of now wallowing in shit all day, I’m lumping them in together. My apologies to anyone who may be offended.

So:

• According to Lambgoat, Deftones’ bassist Chi Cheng has been diagnosed with pneumonia — just two days after flying home to California from a special brain injury clinic in New Jersey, where he was undergoing treatment following the 2008 car accident that left him in a coma. His mother, Jeanne Marie Cheng, says Chi’s condition is “not good,” and the webmaster of OneloveforChi.com says that he’s in the “ICU on three antibiotics” and that his “Blood pressure and oxygen are both low.” Terrible news. Here’s hoping Cheng makes a speedy recovery and no more tragedy falls upon him or his loved ones.
• Jack Osbourne, who is, of course, the son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and was one of the stars of the MTV reality series has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he tells People. This just two weeks after his fiancée, Lisa Stelly, gave birth to the couple’s first child, Pearl Clementine. There are several different classifications of MS which vary in seriousness (although it’s not like any of them are “okay,” for lack of a better term); it’s not presently clear what kind Osbourne is afflicted with. That being said, I know we’ve given Jack Osbourne shit in the past, and I’m not going to pretend to be a fan now. But obviously no one deserves these kinds of horrendous health issues. Our thoughts are with him and his family.
