GET SUPER-FREAKY AND PROGGY AND JAZZY AND METALLY WITH MÖRGLBL
Super-freaky proggy jazz-fusion wizards Mörglbl are going to twist up your testes. In a good way!
Of course, super-freaky proggy jazz-fusion is all over the place this year: T.R.A.M., Trioscapes, Felix Martin and now Mörglbl. I guess the musical climate in 2012 is just right for this kind of music to attract attention. This is actually Mörglbl’s 6th studio album since guitarist Christophe Godin assembled the band in 1998, so it’s not like this kind of music just appeared… our feeble minds just weren’t quite ready for it yet.
Christophe Godin reminds me of a slightly less schizophrenic Vernon Reid, both in his Hendrix/EVH-like pointed rhythms and frenetic fingered almost-atonal leads. The rhythm section pounds and grooves like Petrucci and Portnoy do when they lock into extended prog jams (plus a touch of Les Claypool). No surprise Mörglbl have toured with Liquid Tension Experiment.
Stream “Brutal Romance” at The Deciblog and prepare to be wowed. Pre-order this shiznat here before it comes out on June 5th.
