“COMMON SPECIES”: JUST SAY YES TO THE THIS TRACK FROM OLD MAN GLOOM’S NO

I still haven’t heard No, Old Man Gloom’s first album in eight years, ’cause I wasn’t smart enough to purchase a copy at their recent tour (where the release was initially sold), and now I have to wait ’til it’s released through more traditional outfits like the rest of you schmoes.

But the new material the band played when we saw them live certainly sounded great, and “Common Species,” the track which has now debuted on Pitchfork, further assures me that No is gonna be worth the wait. It basically sounds like a giant cyclops that spits acid is tearing through a town, mercilessly killing everything in its path, specifically starting with the women, children, and crippled. Y’know. Like an Old Man Gloom song.
