DANNY CAREY PLAYS TOOL’S “VICARIOUS” WITH L.A. TEENS
That a group of kids between 5 and 10 years old got to open up for Rammstein in a huge Denver arena last weekend was pretty cool, but this might be even cooler: a group of teenage students at School Of Rock West in Los Angeles got to play Tool’s “Vicarious” with Danny Carey on drums last month! As mortified as I would’ve been as a 10-year old to play a Rammstein song at a Rammstein show in front of 10,000 screaming fans, I might’ve been scared shitless to play a Tool song with the Seventh Best Modern Metal Drummer. What if I messed up??
Watch the video above; it’s awesome that Danny Carey volunteered to do this (I wonder how the school worked out that deal?), it’s cool to see him play on a relatively small drum set and still kill it, and most of all it’s awesome for these teens that they have this experience under their belts. I love how the guitarist on the left (stage right) it basically an Adam Jones doppelganger.
Carey and the crew also jammed on Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” Video of that below:
