SOULFLY’S VIDEO FOR “WORLD SCUM” SOUNDS BETTER THAN IT LOOKS

Soulfly have released a new video, for the track “World Scum.” The clip compares a modern day jail prisoner (or sniper or whatever) to Jesus… or something. I dunno. Look, it’s not that great of a video and I got kinda bored watching it. Sorry.

The flipside is that I didn’t get bored listening to it, which is to say, the song is actually pretty good. I didn’t get to hear the track when it was first released because I was on jury duty at the time; it’s not groundbreaking or anything, but it’s basically Soulfly’s version of a blackened death metal tune, and they do a surprisingly good job with the genre. I haven’t really dug a Soulfly album since 2005’s Dark Ages, which was much darker and heavier than anything else the band has made; it would be swell if their new album, Enslaved, followed along those lines.

Enslaved is out March 13 via Roadrunner.
