NECROLUST: NOTES FROM THE UNDERGROUND

I’m working on something that’s going to bum out a LOT of people on here, and need to give it my full attention, so in the meantime, here’s some news from the void.

Music Ruins Lives will be reissuing the debut release from Ohioan blackened doom masters Vit. The album, , will come in a six-panel digipack with completely new artwork, and you really need to buy it because this band is amazing beyond words. Seriously.

Petrychor have recorded a new album! Their 2010 Dryad EP was one of my favorite records of the year and was apparently crafted as one singular piece, broken up into movements and interludes. Gorgeous melodies, ethereal vocals, and studiously conceived concepts add an air of gravitas to the piece; the project’s bloody roots are plainly visible, and the interplay between gentle acoustic parts and raw, atmospheric black metal is nothing short of flawless. The album is available for free download on Bandcamp – but it’s definitely worth going for the pay-what-you-want option and throwing them a few bones.

Archgoat are playing a North American show with Black Witchery! Here’s the catch: it’s in Jersey.  On August 13, Clifton, NJ’s Dingbatz will play Satan’s host to the masters of Finnish filth and Floridian war metal at the fourth annual Return of Darkness and Evil Fest. They’ll be joined by Necrophagia, Engorged, Sperm of the Antichrist, and Psycho, and will be graced by Vaginal Jesus’ first and only ever live appearance. This will be Archgoat’s debut East Coast appearance – I’ll be on tour and am really pissed to be missing it, so please, someone go to this and bring me back a t-shirt.

Speaking of Archgoat, they’re recording a mini-album for Debemur Morti Productions, and have promised that these five new hymns of angelslaying fucking black metal will be available in October 2011.  Ave.

Barghest have completed work on their debut album, which is slated for a vinyl release this June via the mighty Gilead Media. This Baton Rouge collective features members of Thou, and pour their combined energy into playing the most hateful, raw traditional black metal imaginable. This is their first full-length work, and will surely be a monster. NOLA ‘heads, catch them with Inquisition on May 22.

Saturnalia Temple’s latest opus, Aion of Drakon, is now available from the AJNA Offensive (North America) and Nuclear Winter (EU). Dig Electric Wizard? Dig weed? Dig Satan? You’ll dig them.

Blessed Offal’s debut self-titled album is out now on CD. Released by Black Mass Records, the album is chock full of brutal, Autopsy-worshipping death/doom filth with a dash of the ol’ grindcore tossed in. Take a listen here.

Morbus Chron have completed work on their debut full-length, Sleepers in the Rift. This sure-to-be-solid slab of vintage death worship was engineered and co-produced by Nicke Andersson, and is due out this year on Pulverised Records.

In other news, Ghoul are still fucking awesome.
