HINT: IT RHYMES WITH “MACK BLETALCORE”
Here’s a dilemma: I think I finally figured out the phrase stupid people will use to describe Abigail Williams’ particular style of metal, but I’m afraid that if I share said phrase with anyone, then I’ll be the stupid person who coined it. What do I do, what do I do? Go for the cheap joke? Or be a little more dignified-like and just let you all know that “Into the Ashes,” the new song the band just debuted on their MySpace page, is awesome and totally worth your time?
Aw, fuck it. I know this is MetalSucks, but for once, I don’t wanna be the smart-ass.
The song kills. Right now, I’m listening to it for the second time in a row, and I like it just as much as I did the first time.
And yeah, I know that having a beautiful female keyboard player is all the rage right now, but I’m fairly certain that this Ashley Ellyllon is actually, y’know, contributing to the song, and making it better. I mean, her orchestration is pretty awesome. I only wish she had a real live orchestra to play with instead of her Casio or whatever the fuck I’m hearing. But, y’know, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Plus, the bass player’s name is “Plaguehammer.” That’s either the best black metal name no one has thought of yet, or the worst. As long as he doesn’t wear a shirt with the name on it like that dude from Dope, I think he can probably get away with it.
Ahhh. Feels so good to just write a straight-forward thumbs up for a change. I just hope no one actually calls them what I’m afraid people might call them.
