Gruesome Announce ‘Silent Echoes’, New Single “A Darkened Window” Streaming Now
Ever wanted to time-travel back to the 90s to experience the dawn of Floridian death metal? Well you’re in luck, because Gruesome has continued to harness that sound and they’ve got a new album coming out on June 6 titled Silent Echoes.
Packed full of eight new death metal tunes, the forthcoming album is the band’s first full-length effort in seven years. The album’s first single “A Darkened Window” is out right now and it’s a fucking ripper. Seriously, I’ve said it before but I think Chuck Schuldiner would be proud.
And that’s not just me talking some meaningless shit, either. The band itself said they’re pulling from the wellsprings of Death, stating that this latest effort was “written and recorded in the spirit of Death’s 1991 progressive death metal masterpiece, Human.”
Speaking of the single, the band said it was the perfect song to have The COIN do a video for, which you can watch below.
“A Darkened Window was the perfect song to pair with the visuals of the COIN, who captured the existential despair of lyrics perfectly – a vision of modern existence where every human emotion can be commoditized and therefore must be groomed, filtered and corrected into something synthetic and horrifying.”
