Former Judas Priest Drummer Les Binks Dead at 73
Overnight, legendary metal outfit Judas Priest revealed to the world that former drummer Les Binks had passed away at 73 years of age. The band released the following statement about his passing:
“We are deeply saddened about the passing of Les and send our love to his family, friends and fans. The acclaimed drumming he provided was first class – demonstrating his unique techniques, flair, style and precision. Thank you Les – your acclaim will live on…..”
Binks played drums for Judas Priest between 1977 and 1979. During that time, he was featured on both 1978’s Stained Class and 1979’s Hell Bent For Leather, as well as the band’s live album Unleashed In The East. Following his time with Judas Priest, he played with a number of other projects, including former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing’s spin off band KK’s Priest from 2019 to 2021.
Back in 2022, Binks was able to participate in Judas Priest’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he was inducted with the rest of the band. He also performed with the band following their induction.
We at MetalSucks would like to extend our deepest condolences to Binks’ family, friends, loved ones, and former bandmates during this incredibly difficult time.
