Opeth Takes Swedish Best Hard Rock & Metal Grammis for ‘The Last Will & Testament’

0

We’ve all known this album was a banger since its release, but Opeth‘s most recent full-length effort The Last Will & Testament received some pretty high honors last night by taking home the “Best Hard Rock & Metal” award at this year’s Swedish Grammis.

Held at the Annexet in Stockholm, the Swedish Grammis nominates bands’ most recent releases, all of which came out last year. This year, Opeth was nominated for the award along with some pretty strong candidates for the award. The nominees for the category were as follows:

  • Amaranth – The Catalyst
  • Horndal – Head Hammer Man
  • Nestor – Teenage Rebel
  • Opeth – The Last Will and Testament
  • Skraeckoedlan – Vermillion Sky

As a concept album, The Last Will & Testament has certainly gained the attention and imaginations of fans, hence their win. On hand to present the award was none other than Ghost’s Tobias Forge, who might end up winning next year’s award for Skeletá.

In just a few days, Opeth will embark on a ‘Monsters of Rock’ run, with stops in Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Then later this spring and summer they’ll be traveling all over the place. If you’d like to see them live, you can do so by checking out the list of dates below.
