Disturbed Slightly Burnt Some of Chicago’s NBA Championship Banners
Chalk this one up as another instance of Disturbed‘s pyrotechnics causing problems, only this time some banners with significant meaning for a major NBA team are the victims.
This past Saturday, Disturbed played the United Center in Chicago and it seemed that all ways peachy-keen, honky-dory, and all that jazz. Except according to the Chicago Tribune, six commemorative banners marking the Chicago Bulls’ NBA championship wins from 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998 were damaged by the band’s fire displays.
According to United Center communications reps, the banners have been taken down for repairs, but they won’t be able to put the banners back up in the rafters until after the end of the current basketball season.
“United Center is currently working with the Bulls to explore options to repair these banners. While the banners will not be in place for the remainder of this season, we do anticipate them being back in place next season.”
Man, if I were a Bulls fan, I’d be pissed. Those banners mean a lot to the fans — especially any fans that were around when those teams were killing it.
This isn’t the first time that Disturbed’s pryo has caused issues. Twice over the summer of 2023, the band inadvertently set of venue sprinklers, leading to the band and their entire state set up to get absolutely drenched.
If you’d like to see how else they can fuck up a location with their pyrotechnics, you can check out Disturbed at any of the tour dates listed below. If you want to get your tickets, you can easily do so right now.
