Bioliminescence (Prosthetic Records)
Deftly mixing both black metal and death metal, this new offering from Dawn of Ouroboros hits hard. Thanks to the jagged attack of Tony Thomas’ guitars, the thundering rhythms of drummer Ron Bertrans and bassist Ian Baker, and the explosive vocal performance from Chelsea Murphy, this record is atmospheric, progressive, and poetic — all while kicking serious ass.
Destruction
Birth of Malice (Napalm Records)
Having been around since 1983, this German thrash metal band is back with their 18th full-length album and their follow up to 2022’s Diabolical. If you’re looking for ripping old school thrash with a touch more variety and groove, this may be the new release for you.
Spiritbox
Tsunami Sea (Pale Chord Music/Rise Records)
No, this isn’t Poppy, it’s Courtney LaPlante and the rest of the fine folks in Spiritbox. This Canadian alternative metal/metalcore act has been riding high in recent years and they’re showing no signs of stopping any time soon.
This Gift Is A Curse
Heir (Season of Mist)
Six years after the release of their previous record A Throne Of Ash, this Swedish amalgam of black metal, sludge metal, and hardcore band is back to fuck shit up. Ferocious, violent, and thick with chaos, it’s a sledgehammer to the solar plexus in audio form.

Hymns In Dissonance (Metal Blade Records)
Yeah, this is the big one. Touted by many (including our reviewer) as a return to their roots, Whitechapel have absolutely delivered something special with Hymns In Dissonance.
