the Jesus Lizard Release ‘Heartbreaking’ New Single “I’m Tired of Being Your Mother”
It’s a shame this song isn’t coming out in May, because the latest track from the Jesus Lizard ahead of the release of their forthcoming EP Flux would be perfect for that particular holiday. Mother’s Day would be right around the corner and their latest song “I’m Tired of Being Your Mother” is a tribute to the fucked up shit some moms say to their kids in the heat of the moment.
According to vocalist David Yow, the lyrical content comes directly from some shit he’s heard moms say to their children — and that’s kinda fucked up.
“When a friend of mine was about eight years old, living outside of New Orleans, his mother once said to him, in a slow, dull drawl, ‘Im tired uh bein’ yo mutha’. That really struck me. The lyrics are actual quotes of awful things mothers have said to their children. Heartbreaking!!”
This song is the third and final song featured on the band’s Record Store Day exclusive EP, Flux. Available on black vinyl with an etched B-side, Flux will be available when Record Store Day comes on April 12.
