Kerry King Hopes to Have Another Solo Album Out Early Next Year
Following the disbandment of Slayer, Kerry King swooped in with his solo project to fill the Slayer void and his solo debut album From Hell I Rise that came out last May made the entire metal world go “Meh, not bad.” So it looks like King is getting ready to turn right back around and mildly impress the metal world again with a follow up, which he’s hoping to have out early next year.
In a recent interview with Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3 (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth), King talked about his plans for a second solo album:
“Me and Paul [Bostaph, Kerry King drummer] have got 10, 12 songs demoed already. I’ve just gotta get off my butt and write lyrics for ’em.
“None of us are young. We wanna keep going. We want the machine to roll. We don’t want five-year gaps.
“As soon as album one cycle is done, which looks like it’s gonna be — I don’t know — September maybe, we wanna jump into rehearsal or jump right into the studio and take the momentum of the tour, so we can have another two-week recording cycle. And then get that to the record company, and when that comes out, start record cycle two. You’ll see us again.”
When asked if fans could expect a new album for early 2026, King responded:
“That’s a realistic goal, and I wanna achieve that, for sure.”
So we’re likely looking at about a year until we get another good-but-not-great album from King. And, considering that King keeps insisting that Slayer will never record another album (sure), this will have to be enough to satiate the big Slayer fans for now.
