Melvins and Napalm Death Releasing an Album Together This Weekend

0

Yes, I’m totally aware that headline sounds bonkers, but it’s true. Not only will Napalm Death and Melvins be touring together this spring, but the pair of bands have announced that they’re releasing a collaborative album titled Savage Imperial Death March this Sunday.

According to the bands’ announcement, the record will come out via AmRep Records, only there’s one major catch. It will only be available as a vinyl release for some time, though a CD release (and hopefully a digital streaming release) will be coming in the near future.

Speaking of the album’s title, AmRed Records owner Tom Hazelmyer said the album’s name evoked some very real historic events.

“The title put me in a World War 1 frame of mind. The last gasp for more than a few empires and monarchies, and for anyone familiar, a fucking horror-show of humanity crushing, meat grinding tactics overseen by utterly uncaring upper class elites refusing to change disastrous and arcane warfare methods despite the millions slaughtered to no ends. At least the whole world learned from the hideous mistake and it would never be repeated!”

Absolutely. Never repeated…

As for the two bands, they’re getting ready to head out on the second leg of their ‘Savage Imperian Death March tour. In that run, Melvins will once again have two drummers with Dale Crover and Coady Willis. Meanwhile, Shane Embry’s Dark Sky Burial will open every date. Further support will be in the form of Weedeater, Titan To Tachyons, and The Hard-Ons.
