Gary Holt on Steve “Zetro” Souza’s Exit from Exodus: “The Marriage Was Done and Over”
The departure of Steve “Zetro” Souza from Exodus last month came as a huge surprise, and one that came with very little information at the time. The initial Instagram post they made about the situation was weirdly cryptic, stating:
“Announcement! Exodus have parted ways with Steve ‘Zetro’ Souza. We thank Steve for his years fronting the band and all the killer music we made during that time. We wish him only the best in the future and much success with anything he does.”
Since the shocking announcement, Zetro has given a short statement on the situation in response to a fan asking him about it on social media. Zetro said definitively:
“I did not leave, I was let go!! Exodus parted ways with Zetro.”
So clearly, something went down in the band that was pretty significant and nobody’s really talking about it. Well, we’ve gotten Gary Holt’s statement on the situation now and, according to him, it was more like a divorce than anything.
According to Blabbermouth fan on Instagram asked Holt why Zetro was let go of the band, and Holt gave a short reply as well, saying:
“If I told you you’d understand. I’ve no desire to talk badly about him. It’s a marriage, being in a band. Behind closed doors, the marriage was done and over.”
This seems increasingly like something that will come out in full eventually and that someday we’ll get an in-depth interview with Zetro or Holt or someone else involved in the situation where they’ll lay out everything that happened. Until then, we’ve got these fleeting statements that raise more questions than they answer, and inevitably lead to a lot of fan speculation.
