Bob Daisley Doesn’t Want to Be Part of Ozzy’s Final Show, Says It Could Be “An Embarrassment”

The announcement of one final Black Sabbath show on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham with the original lineup would have been enough news to have the entire global metal community collectively shitting their pants. There was absolutely no reason to sweeten the deal with a full day of performances including Ozzy Osbourne’s final solo show and performances from artists that Sabbath influenced from Metallica to Slayer to Billy Corgan to Fred Durst to Lzzy Hale and so on and so forth. The fact that the whole thing is a day-long celebration of the legacy of Sabbath and Ozzy was kind of more than we could have asked for.

On top of all that comes the recent announcement that even Ozzy’s final solo show will have extra-special guests with the return of some people who haven’t worked with Ozzy in a long time like his former solo bandmates Jake E. Lee and Rudy Sarzo. But some people have noticed one name missing from the celebrations, namely Bob Daisley, who not only played with Ozzy back in the day, but also wrote and co-wrote a lot of Ozzy’s early material. But, according to Daisley, he has no interest in being part of the big celebration on July 5, even going so far as to speculate that the whole event might be an “embarrassment.”

In a recent interview with Indie Power TV (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth), Daisley talked about the supposed snub of not being invited to the big celebration, saying:

“To be honest with you, I don’t think I’d wanna be a part of that that day. It’ll be awkward, but it could turn out as an embarrassment as well, but we’ll see. We’ll see.”

It seems Daisley doesn’t really expect much in the way of recognition from Ozzy, as he also commented on being unsurprised that the metal legend didn’t mention Daisley in his acceptance speech for his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, saying:

“I didn’t expect [to get a mention]. I knew that was coming, because there’s been some dirty water gone under the bridge between us — there’s been lawsuits and legal issues and that — so I was not surprised when I didn’t get a mention. Many people thought that it was wrong and that I should have got a mention. But I really didn’t expect it, so I wasn’t surprised.”

So, amidst the celebrations on July 5 of all things Sabbath and Ozzy and all the people who got them there, you can pretty much count out a surprise appearance from Daisley, or even an acknowledgement of him during the festivities.
