Rivers Of Nihil Drop New Single “House Of Light”, Self-Titled Album Coming This May
Progressive death metal outfit Rivers of Nihil are back with a new single and the announcement of a brand new self-titled album coming just around the corner. Set for release on May 30 via Metal Blade Records, the new slate of tracks includes today’s release, “House Of Light”.
Touted by the band as a sort of back-to-basics kind of release, this upcoming release will feature 10 new songs from this more recent iteration of the band, which saw founding bassist Adam Biggs take up the frontman role and ex-Black Crown Initiate guitarist Andy Thomas join the fold in 2023.
Speaking of the new album, founding guitarist Brody Uttley said it’s a reflection of everything the band’s done since its inception in 2009.
“I feel like these songs are the perfect blend of all our albums, with all the fat cut away. There are more technical songs that call back to The Conscious Seed Of Light and Monarchy sound, but with a more mature understanding of how to pace a song. There’s a fair bit of the Where Owls Know My Name and The Work-type experimental stuff, but with a more refreshed perspective on those styles for the current era of the band.”
As for today’s single release, it’s actually the second single to be featured from the forthcoming album. The first being “The Sub-Orbital Blues”, which was released back in June 2023 as the first song featuring Biggs on vocals and Thomas on guitar.
