Mantar’s New Track “Rex Perverso” Isn’t Sexy, but It’s Pretty Damn Groovy
This Valentine’s Day, you could try to be a doting lover to your partner (or yourself, I won’t judge)… or you could slap on Mantar‘s new record Post Apocalyptic Depression and jam out to their newest single, “Rex Perverso”. With a title that loosely translates to “king of the perverts,” who knows — maybe your significant other would be into that kind of shit.
Released earlier today and blasted out on all major streaming platforms, this latest single from the German sludge metal duo comprised of frontman Hanno Klänhardt and drummer Erinc Sakarya is equal parts catchy and groovy with a biting edge to the whole thing.
Speaking of the track itself, Klänhardt explained the thought process that went into it.
“The title roughly translates to ‘king of the perverts,’ a title apparently worn with pride worldwide. This song is all about groove which has always been a main priority and one of the strongest weapons of the band. It’s catchy and on point. The song triggers simple and primitive instincts. It’s over before you realize you’ve felt it.”
With this new record being their follow-up to 2022’s Pain Is Forever And This Is The End, Klänhardt said they wanted to make sure that things this time around didn’t feel like a direct continuation of anything that came before it.
“We wanted to do everything different from the last album. The last album was very produced. A huge sounding record with clean production. Display of power. That was what we wanted and felt at that time. Now we are trying to destroy what we’ve built up with the last album. There is a certain beauty in disappointing people’s expectations.”
Post Apocalyptic Depression will be released on February 14 via Metal Blade Records, but you can preorder your copy today. The band will also be touring Europe with Kvelertak and Urne starting next month. You can find the dates for those shows below.
