Employed To Serve Tap Lorna Shore’s Will Ramos for Their Latest Track “Atonement”

What happens when you take British metalcore act Employed To Serve, mix in a little Will Ramos from Lorna Shore, and then take that goopy mixture and pour it into the home of popular comedy sitcom The Office? Well, you get the new single “Atonement” and its accompanying music video.

The song is not just the latest from Employed To Serve, but it’s special in that it’s the first time Ramos has provided clean vocals in an album feature. And while that’s notable, it’s also worth noting that it’s got the whole modern metalcore heaviness, mixed with dueling solos, and one hell of a catchy sing-along-worthy chorus.

Guitarist and songwriter Sammy Urwin said the song’s main theme is effectively that you’re more than your job, and that with enough perseverance you can overcome any asshole in your way.

“’Atonement’ takes aim at those who try to lord their power over you. The only way to defeat these people is by rising above their behaviour and pushing forward on your own path. We wanted to lead with this single because it is the track that encompasses the ethos of Employed To Serve as a whole. We’re strong believers of working hard and not letting life and the negative people in it affect your goals and aspirations.”

As for the previous mention of The Office, the band noted that they filmed most of the video in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

“The studio was a shrine to the show, and Dwight, which was fun to explore in between filming! We wanted to portray someone in power/authority trying to wear down their captive through aggression. I found it very hard to keep a straight face while choking out Sammy, by take 15 or so I got more into it as the jetlag and hot weather made me feel more unhinged…”

In addition to the new song and video, the band announced that their upcoming album Fallen Star will be released on April 25. You can preorder your copy today.
