Faith No More’s Billy Gould Unsure of the Band’s Future
The last few years have been a bit difficult for Faith No More. After frontman Mike Patton developed agoraphobia and alcoholism due to the pandemic and the band was forced to cancel its plans to go on tour, there’s been a long period of mostly radio silence. Then back in October, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Roddy Bottum gave an update on his many projects in which he announced that Faith No More was on a “semi-permanent hiatus.” Well, according to the band’s bassist Billy Gould, that’s still the case, with the hiatus having no end in sight at the moment.
In a recent interview with Radio Futuro (that was reported on by The PRP), Gould was asked about the band’s status, and it doesn’t look good at the moment:
“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. And you don’t have to believe me, but there’s nothing… Right now we’re in a really weird spot, a really strange spot, and I can’t really tell you what’s going on. I don’t know myself. I get different information from people, and I’m in the band, so…”
It seems that Gould would definitely be on board for some shows if he could be as, later in the interview, the interviewer joked about Gould taking charge of the band, and Gould said that, if that were to happen, they’d be playing shows already.
Meanwhile, Patton has remained relatively busy, going on tour with Mr. Bungle and releasing new music, with the latest being the release of Dead Cross’ second album in 2022.
