Speed Pay Tribute to Their Friend Who Passed and Reschedule Australian Tour Dates
Australian rising hardcore stars, Speed, recently had to postpone their Australian tour dates to help with the search for their friend “Aje” Chang-Wook Yeo who had been a dedicated member their local hardcore community. Unfortunately, the band announced Aje’s passing a few days ago, with a touching tribute to their friend on Instagram, stating:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother ‘Aje’ Chang-Wook Yeo. We sincerely thank the countless people who have offered help, support and understanding over the past few days as we navigate this difficult time. The outpouring of love worldwide is a testament to the remarkable impact Aje had on so many far and wide.
“Aje moved to Sydney from South Korea in October 2022 and was immediately welcomed into our Sydney hardcore family with open arms. He had an avid interest in all things underground, and spent literally every single moment he could attending and participating in events of all kinds, all around Sydney. With an insanely fresh mosh repertoire accompanied by his flamboyant clothes and signature ski mask, Aje’s presence at Sydney hardcore shows was impossible to ignore and not admire. He quickly became a part of the fabric of our friendship group, and we celebrated highs and lows together as he built a life here and made it his home.
“Aje was a kind, curious, ambitious, passionate, generous and extremely sentimental person that made every interaction he had with the many friends he made as meaningful as possible. In his words, “being part of the Sydney hardcore scene is invaluable, and I take great pride in being the only one from Asia contributing to the Sydney and Australian hardcore scene.”
“Aje was quite simply a brother we all naturally adopted. His passing leaves a deep wound, and we will honour him by banding together with our family and friends to continue his tremendous legacy in everything we do.
“‘The goal is to manifest higher than before.’
“In loving memory..
‘Aje’ Chang-Wook Yeo
1994-2025”
We offer our deepest condolences to all of Aje’s friends and family at this time.
