Vacuous Unveil Album ‘In His Blood’, Drop Title Track as its First Single

The latest offering from U.K. death metal outfit Vacuous was released earlier today and boy howdy, does it kick ass. Bursting forth with old school fury and contemporary sound, “In His Blood” is an exciting reveal for the band’s forthcoming album of the same name.

Set to release on February 28, In His Blood is Vacuous’ debut on Relapse Records as well, so for these dudes, it marks an important moment in their careers. Speaking of the title track, guitarist Michael Brodsky said they tried to distill their band down into a song that lasts just under three minutes in length.

“We put a lot of ourselves into “In His Blood”. Our goal was to pull in our personal influences from different genres of music, blending everything together and pushing it all to the extreme in a very bold way. It’s raw, organic, unhinged and at times very imperfect, but feels like our most personal and honest music to date, which is what death metal is all about ultimately (to us, anyway). We can’t wait for everyone to hear it and couldn’t be more excited for the legendary Relapse Records to be releasing it.”

As for their love of the death metal forebears of yesteryear, Brodsky said Vacuous really has been trying to stand on the shoulders of the genre’s giants, albeit in their own way.

“We’ve talked about having different influences, and it felt like a bit of a dare to push things further. Back in death metal’s formative days, with bands like Autopsy, Obituary, Incantation, none of those bands sounded like each other: they were just pushing their collective influences together to the extreme. I think we’re still doing the same thing, just from the point of view of people who grew up in the 2000s.”

In His Blood will be released on February 28 via Relapse Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
