Corrosion of Conformity is Back in the Studio
They’ve been working on this new album for a while now, but the dudes in Corrosion of Conformity took to social media earlier today to reveal that they’re once again in the studio, plugging away at new jams. And while the news that they’re working on a new album isn’t really news at all, isn’t this just enough to get irrationally hyped over?
I mean, it’s been five years since the 2018 release of No Cross No Crown and 20 years since the previous album featuring Pepper Keenan as the frontman, In The Arms Of God. Sure, they’ve had to deal with the exit of founding bassist Mike Dean and whatnot, but by simply posting a studio image with the tagline “It has begun” got me more stoked than Shang Tsung in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie.
Speaking of Dean, the band has since moved on and recruited ex-Down guitarist and Pantera bass tech Bobby Landgraf to hold it down on the low end. The rest of the band includes Keenan, guitarist and backing vocalist Woody Weatherman. Following the passing of drummer Reed Mullin, the band’s relied on John Green in that spot, but for the new record they once again have Stanton Moore on the skins.
So yeah, that’s pretty much everything you need to know about Corrosion of Conformity’s social media post. They’re back in the studio, working on new music, and that’s a perfectly reasonable thing to lose your shit over. COC rocks.
