Amorphis is Recording Their 15th Studio Album
They said they likely weren’t going to have a new album by 2025. Then they said they planned on hitting the studio after their fall 2024 tour. Well, it turns out the folks in Amorphis are sticking to their word, as they just recently revealed that they’re in the studio, working on their 15th full-length offering.
In a recent Instagram post, the band revealed that they were in Denmark working with producer Jacob Hansen. And while we don’t know much about the new tunes, the band hinted that this new record was going to be a departure from their usual fare.
“Greetings from windy Denmark! Here we are, recording Amorphis’ 15th studio album with Jacob Hansen as a producer. This time, we wanted to break our usual formula a bit and explore new productive nuances. It’s inspiring to be here, and the next couple of months will reveal how Amorphis will sound in 2025.”
That’s pretty exciting to hear. Unless it doesn’t sound good, at which point that will be a bummer. Previously, the band’s keyboardist Santeri Kallio said the band already had “most of the instrumentation recorded already.”
“But, to be honest, we don’t have the release date set, obviously. But I would say in the winter the album is made — it’s recorded and mixed and mastered probably at the latest March, maybe already in February. It’s still a little bit open for us.”
Later this year, Amorphis will be on tour with Arch Enemy, Eluveitie, and Gatecreeper starting this October. You can find the full list of dates below.
