Rammstein Dropped an Hour Long Documentary About Their World Stadium Tour
For the last five years, German industrial metal titans Rammstein have been on the road, with their most recent stadium tours being in support of their most recent album Zeit. Normally that would be the end of the discussion, but there were some allegations, an investigation by German authorities, a dropped case, and now a counter-suit against a German media outlet. To say it’s not been the smoothest ride these last couple years would be an understatement.
Still, the band released a documentary focusing on the band’s world stadium tour from 2019 to 2024. That’s five years, 135 concerts, and six million fans in attendance. Clocking in at about an hour long, it focuses on the scores of people and the sheer amount of material needed to put on the kind of massive, stadium-filling show that Rammstein’s known for.
“From 2019 to 2024, a video team followed the production, focusing on the impressive efforts of the crew and their various trades. The footage provides an authentic and powerful look behind the scenes of the production: from intricate stage construction and lighting design to pyrotechnics, logistics, and countless other tasks. It highlights the expertise, tireless dedication, close collaboration, and sense of responsibility of an exceptional crew — qualities essential to creating a show of this magnitude.”
Having been lucky enough to attend their Philly show a couple years ago, I can safely say it’s an experience I’ll never forget. Regardless of how you feel about the band, it’s impressive to get to see the sheer amount of work from extremely skilled individuals needed to put on such a massive show. Being a part of a massive road crew seems like it’s a super thankless job, so it’s good that they got their moment in the sun with this documentary.
