Josh Scogin Denies Rumors of a Reunion of The Chariot at Furnace Fest 2025

I really do believe that, just like in comic books, nothing in metal and hardcore ever really dies, and you can never say never about anything. I once saw a Danzig show in Boston in the early 2000s with Doyle Von Frankenstein where they literally wrote on the marquis “The closest thing to a Misfits reunion you will ever see.” As we all know, Danzig completely went back on that and reunited the Misfits in 2016. More recently, we’ve already seen Furnace Fest go back on their word faster than you can blink, as they announced a 2025 edition of the festival about a month and a half after holding what they claimed to be the final iteration of the festival. And now, it looks like Furnace Fest might be hinting at another reunion that someone swore would never happen.

Shortly after Furnace Fest announced their return for 2025, Lambgoat ran an article speculating on hints that Furnace Fest might have given about next year’s lineup with the hashtags on their post. They pointed out that the hashtag #allswellthatendswell could be hinting that Chiodos could be playing next year, as All’s Well That Ends Well is the name of that band’s debut album, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. Then again, it’s also the name of a Shakespeare play, so maybe it doesn’t mean Chiodos are playing at all. Then they speculated that the hashtag #adventofamiracle could be hinting at a Strongarm reunion, as their final album in 1997 was called The Advent of a Miracle. And they said that the hashtag #goodmorningmyladyandaforeverhello could potentially be a hint at a reunion of hardcore band The Chariot, who had a song called “Vin Afflect (Goodnight My Lady and a Forever Farewell.”

Unfortunately, the hopes of a Chariot reunion were dashed very quickly. In a Twitter exchange that has since been made private but which was reported on by Lambgoat, Twitter user @JakeParkerTX shared the Lambgoat article speculating about The Chariot’s potential reunion and wrote to a friend that “We def need to go if this happens lol,” to which The Chariot frontman Josh Scogin replied simply “It ain’t.”

As Lambgoat themselves pointed out, Scogin also denied rumors that he would join Norma Jean onstage at the 2024 Furnace Fest, and then he joined Norma Jean on stage at the 2024 Furnace Fest. So it wouldn’t be entirely out of character for him to lie. Still, he’s been pretty adamant over the years about The Chariot not getting back together, and it’s perfectly possible that the Furnace Fest hashtags were not clues but just references to their favorite bands relating to the return of the festival. We’ll have to wait and see what actually happens when the lineup for Furnace Fest 2025 is announced.
