Carach Angren Are in the Studio Working on a New EP
Dutch symphonic black metal band Carach Angren is down to only two members of the band since the departure of Ivo “Namtar” Wijers in 2020 after they finished recording their sixth studio album Franckensteina Strataemontanus. But, apparently, the lack of a drummer isn’t going to stop them from putting out new music, as the band’s two remaining members, Dennis “Seregor” Droomers and Clemens “Ardek” Wijers, have announced they’re working on a new EP.
Just four days ago, the duo announced they had finished writing something new, leaving a lot to speculate about, posting on Instagram:
“The Writing is a portent of Doom…
“We have finished the writing process for a new special haunting chapter that will be recorded this year!
“More soon..”
Apparently “this year” meant literally two days later, because on Sunday they posted a new update on Instagram with a picture of both band members, saying:
“On our way to @tidalwave_studios for recordings of our new EP!”
The fact that both members of the band are well enough to record a new EP comes as good news as the band had to cancel some shows over the summer due to Seregor having to “undergo an emergency procedure” that required a fair bit of recovery time. The band didn’t reveal what exactly the procedure was, but we certainly hope that Seregor is doing better by now.
There’s no word on when the new EP is due out but, considering there’s only a little over a month left in the year, it would be astonishing if they got it done and released by the end of 2024. This new EP will mark their first new release since Franckensteina Strataemontanus, but will also mark the band’s first EP since Ethereal Veiled Existence in 2005. So look forward to new Carach Angren in the new year!
