Sanguisugabogg Internet Woes Continue… now with rapper J. Cole
The evolution of this story keeps getting better. A few weeks ago, death metal band Sanguisugabogg went through some bullshit with Instagram that forced them to start over with a new profile. Now, the story involves fake ID cards and, for some reason, the “was once part of the big three” rapper J. Cole.
Who knows how they do it, but the scammers apparently found their way into the profiles of or associated with Sanguisugabogg vocalist Devin Swank, in attempts to get fans to buy a $250 Fan ID card to be used for who knows what. The best part of this whole thing so far though, is that these scammers have put up a fake merch website attributing “Sanguisugabogg Records” to being founded by J. Cole. I would love it if Cole were a fan, but why on earth would scammers think the band’s actual fans would fall for this?
In response, the band posted this on their new social media profiles:
“Do not fall for actual scams.. this page has been reported with no resolution other than a response saying they don’t violate any of facebook’s guidelines..
“We do not have J Cole money or any affiliation with him as much as we wish we did. If something sounds true than it most likely is we only plug licensed merch and leftover tour merch etc on our social media platforms if you see anything outside of it being plugged with designs you’ve never seen just message us.
“Also, if you don’t know us personally I can’t say you’d be able to get all access to our shows and if you were granted it from us we would never ask you to pay for it.
“So while we sit in limbo waiting on a response from meta they’re also letting fake Facebook pages like this slide… ridiculous.
Swank then shared this via his real personal profile:
“So meta axes my page and I have to wait forever to get it back if that’s even doable but on top of it all there is a fake Facebook page of someone impersonating me and offering people fake access to shows, merch and all sorts of stuff and what’s even worse there are people actually taking the bait.
“I’ve gotten multiple reports today that this page is also offering merch from us and have even went along with taking payment from people and then going ghost.
“Aside from my personal Facebook I really only use this instagram and I haven’t posted any merch for sale and if I don’t personally know you or have any relationship with you there’s more than likely an icicle chance in Hell that you can get all access (backstage and all) to my shows sorry.
“Multiple reports have been made about this page and all I get hit with is that they don’t violate any of facebook’s guidelines. The internet really needs to get it together.”
I cannot wait to see who gets pulled into this bullshit next.
