Void of Vision Are Calling It Quits After an Australian Farewell Tour in February
It’s been pretty clear for the past few months that something difficult was going on with Australian metalcore giants Void of Vision. They released their fourth studio album, What I’ll Leave Behind, back in September and were supposed to trek across North America on a tour to support the new album, but they cancelled the tour, somewhat abruptly, a few weeks before they were scheduled to start it. According to The PRP, vocalist Jack Bergin had surgery last year for a brain arteriovenous malformation, and there’s some speculation that Bergin’s health may have contributed to the decision to cancel the North American tour. Well, it seems now that, whatever issues have been going on behind the scenes, it’s lead to the end of the band, as Void of Vision announced they would be going on a final Australian tour in February and then disband.
The band announced the decision to bring the band to a close after 12 years on their Instagram with the following statement:
“After over a decade of devotion, intensity and passion, we have decided that it is time to bid farewell to Void Of Vision. As you can all understand, recent years have inspired a lot of reflection and granted us the perspective needed to make this decision.
“We have accomplished much more than we could have ever imagined with this band and experienced things we could have only ever dreamt of upon starting this journey together. Thank you for all the support, thank you for the memories and thank you for sharing the highs and lows that have truly shaped all of our lives for the better.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to leave our legacy than with a final tour around Australia to celebrate the culmination of our career and the band at the best that it’s ever been.
“This is what I’ll leave behind.
“This is Void Of Vision.”
Additionally, Bergin made a separate statement from the rest of the band which he posted on Instagram, reading:
“The machine has been fed and now it is full..
“If you told me 15 years ago where our music would take us and where we are now, I straight up wouldn’t believe it. The dream we started straight out of high school was meant to be a product of its time and I truly believe that it was.. today we happily conclude that time has come to a fulfilling end.
“I’ve learnt to love the process and not the success, how I want to approach creativity and most importantly, how to be as authentically myself as possible, to be a person and not a persona. This band has provided the experiences, lessons and stories to carry on into our respective futures that we can cherish for life, and for that I could not be more grateful. With that being said, Void Of Vision will live on forever through everything that each of us carry onwards to do from here on out.
“We never meant to leave a legacy behind but here it is. We’ll see you all for one final tour around the homeland in Feb to leave on the highest note, the biggest and best that we’ve ever been. Time to celebrate an incredible record we’re so proud of and a career spanning setlist to go with it.
“Thank you for sharing all of this with us, the pleasure was all ours ????
“VOV 2013 – 2025”
It becomes a somewhat happy coincidence that the most recent Void of Vision album, which will now be the band’s final record of their career barring a reunion down the road, has the perfect title to be their farewell album: What I’ll Leave Behind. Appropriately enough, that will also be the name of the farewell tour they’ll be embarking on across Australia. We wish Void of Vision all the best in their future endeavors, as what they’ll leave behind is 12 years of memories for their fans.
Support for the tour will come from Gideon, UnityTX, and Knosis. Presale tickets for the tour go on sale at 5 p.m. AEDT on November 19, while general on-sale begins at 11 a.m. local time on November 21. The full list of dates is below:
