Underoath and Alexisonfire Announce Australian Co-Headlining Tour With Support From Gel
I can’t be the only one who heard about the upcoming Papa Roach “Rise of the Roach” U.S. tour with Rise Against and Underoath and thought “Wow, Rise Against and Underoath are both too good to be opening for Papa Roach.” I’m not even saying they’re the best bands in the world, but them opening for Papa Roach just sounds like somebody lost a bet or owed somebody a hide-the-bodies level favor. But, if you’re in Australia, you get the chance to catch Underoath co-headlining with Alexisonfire with Gel as the opener before the upcoming Papa Roach tour. Now that’s a lineup that might actually be worth checking out.
To make the tour even more interesting, Underoath will be celebrating the 20th anniversary (well, the 21st anniversary, technically) of their popular fourth album They’re Only Chasing Safety by playing the record in its entirety. The tour admat also mentions that Underoath will have an encore set after they finish the album, which I’m glad to see them announce ahead of time. Let’s be honest, most of the time when bands leave the stage and come back, it’s not a genuine encore, it’s just a band pretending they’re done when they’re obviously not. Might as well be up front about it before the tour even kicks off.
There’s no mention anywhere of Alexisonfire celebrating any anniversaries, even as their sophomore album Watch Out! Came out the same year as They’re Only Chasing Safety, but I guess Alexisonfire isn’t in as much of a celebratory mood.
