Korpiklaani Brush Up on Their English Skills with “Sauna”
Of all the concepts that might be the least metal in the world, saunas have to be pretty high up there. Don’t get me wrong — hanging out with your friends in a steamy room, sweating out your worries and just shooting the shit sounds nice, but… like… how do you make a metal song about that?
Enter Finnish folk metal outfit Korpiklaani and their newly released single “Sauna.” If you hit play on the video below and say “hey, this sound familiar,” that’s because it is. This track was originally released as “Saunaan” on their album Rankarumpu.
Drummer Samuli Mikkonen had this to say about the single:
“We’ve have played ‘Saunaan’ on every show after it was released and it has become a banger! Now it was about time to make an English version so everybody can understand our tribute to Finnish sauna culture. The message is simple: ‘Sauna! To party is not a crime/Your worries will burn like a pine!’”
