VOSH Takes Ozzy’s “Shot In The Dark” and Gives It Their Gothic Darkwave Treatment

0

When it comes to great Ozzy songs, there’s no denying that the 1986 hit “Shot In The Dark” off of The Ultimate Sin is an absolute banger. What’s also hard to deny is the fact that Washington D.C.-based gothic darkwave outfit VOSH took that song and gave it a wild new sound that’s absolutely worth checking out.

The cover is part of the forthcoming release of their EP Vault Vol. 1, which is set to be released digitally and on limited edition vinyl in early 2025, though the exact date isn’t set in stone just yet. Still, the cover in question is definitely cool, with synths adding a darker undertone to the whole track while vocalist Josephine Olivia nails it with her sultry and playful, yet hard-nosed attack behind the mic.

Speaking of the cover, the band said they were excited to put their own spin on such a classic Ozzy song.

“We love Ozzy- we wanted to pay homage to someone whose career has been a huge inspiration to us.”

With their EP being the first follow up to the band’s debut release Vessel, the band said they were looking to offer something to fans that felt a lot like their live sound.

“We wanted to encapsulate our live sound, creating a bookend to our first release. We recorded these songs in our basement and wanted to give people a better taste of what our live performance is like. These recordings are more raw and aggressive- a harder edge than Vessel.”

You can check out “Shot In The Dark” below or on your digital streaming platform of choice. As for their upcoming EP Vault Vol. 1, you can preorder your copy today.
