GoFundMe Launched for NICU Expenses for Trivium Drummer Alex Bent’s Daughter
Trivium drummer Alex Bent and his wife Christina recently welcomed their daughter Layla Noelani Bent into the world on August 22. Unfortunately, that was 10 weeks earlier than the baby’s due date, being born at only 1lb and 3oz according to Christina Bent’s Instagram post. Born at only 1lb 13 oz, Layla has spent about 10 weeks in the NICU and has had to undergo exploratory surgery and battled jaundice, anemia, and hypoglycemia, and is showing some “big improvements.”
Unfortunately, medical care in the United States is ridiculously expensive, and the Bents’ hospital bills are piling up. So Christina Bent set up a GoFundMe to try to help raise some of the money for the hospital bills. As Christina write on the GFM description:
“We do not know what the future looks like from a financial standpoint being that our baby has already been hospitalized for nearing 70 days. We are so grateful for our friends, Alex’s band members, and our family who quickly jumped into action to help us physically and financially. The hotel rooms, home-cooked meals, UberEats gift cards, taking our older daughter on a whim when I was being admitted. They were a lifesaver when we were going through the most difficult first few days.
“Any help at all is greatly appreciated. All funds will go towards medical bills, any outpatient therapies, follow-up appointments, and helping to cover our living expenses while I’m working little to no hours at my job to be at her side.”
On the list of donors thus far, the largest donation as of this writing came from a Mark Morton, which I’m assuming is Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton who has toured with Trivium as recently as 2022. It doesn’t surprise me at all to see metal musicians watching out for each other, but it still warms my jaded heart to see it.
The GoFundMe is, as of this writing, about 2/3 of the way to its goal of $30,000. Help if you can, and let Layla grow up remembering what the metal community did for her. We at MetalSucks wish Layla all the good health and luck in the world.
