King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard to Tour with an Orchestra Next Year, “Phantom Island” Streaming Now

0

Ever the ones to keep pushing into new territories as a band, prolific Australian outfit King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard announced earlier today that they’ll be touring the U.S. Now obviously that’s not new, but the following wrinkle to their upcoming tour is — they’ll be playing a 28-piece orchestra along with them for the run of dates.

From July 28 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to August 11 in San Diego, California, the madcap six-piece will team up with different orchestras at the tour’s various locales. Along the way they’ll hit New Haven, spend two nights playing in Forest Hills, New York, and perform in Columbia, Maryland, among other stops. Their summer 20205 run will come to an end when they play a three-day residency at Field of Vision in Buena Vista, California.

These dates are particularly important for U.S. fans of the band, as the band said they’ll be the only American shows they’ll be performing next year. So if you’ve been putting off seeing King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, now’s the time to pull the trigger on a ticket.

In addition to their tour announcement, the band released their latest single “Phantom Island,” which you can check out below. It’s got a string section and horns, because of course it does. You can check that out below, along with the full list of tour dates the Aussies have in store for the rest of this year and beyond.

Tickets for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s orchestral tour will go on sale this Friday, November 1 at 11 a.m. local time either via Ticketmaster‘s or the band’s official site.
