Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach Guests on Black Stone Cherry’s Reimagining of “Out of Pocket”
When you think of Southern hard rock, Massachusetts-based metalcore band Killswitch Engage does not come to mind, and for good reason. So it’s a bit of an unlikely pairing to see Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach team up with Kentucky Southern rockers Black Stone Cherry, but yeah, that’s what happened. Leach made an appearance on Black Stone Cherry’s recent reimagining of their song “Out of Pocket,” which was originally the lead single off their 2023 album Screamin’ at the Sky.
In a statement reported on by The PRP, Black Stone Cherry said:
“We have been fans of Killswitch Engage since we can remember. Having Jesse be a part of one of our songs, bringing his intensity and passion, has truly made this a special moment in our sonic journey.”
Leach also made a comment on the new single, saying:
“I’d always appreciated the Black Stone guys as good humans and songwriters. However, when I finally saw them live, it all clicked for me. They are a great live band, and I am definitely a fan after seeing their show. Being asked to jump on this track was such an honor and a pleasure as well. It’s a damn good rock and roll song.”
You probably won’t catch Leach performing with Black Stone Cherry live anytime on their upcoming tour, but you can still see Black Stone Cherry live at their last few US dates and then on their upcoming European tour. The dates are listed below.
