Wardruna to Headline Fire in the Mountains Festival

0

One of the more exciting festivals popping up next year is the annual Fire in the Mountains out in Montana. Now, I know what you’re thinking — who wants to go to the middle of nowhere Montana — but hear me out. The scenery is gorgeous, it’s hosted on land owned by the Blackfeet Nation, and as announced today, Norwegian ambient folk act Wardruna will be headlining the thing.

Taking place from July 25 to 27 next year, the festival is centered around community, music, and the natural world. As you can imagine, that sort of setup speaks directly to a Norwegian folk band. Still, this festival now set at the Red Eagle Campground in northwestern Montana is sure to feature some killer acts. Looking at past lineups, they’ve had acts like Enslaved, YOB, Wayfarer, Velnias, Panopticon and more.

Speaking of their involvement with the festival, not just as an act but as a collaborative partner with the Blackfeet Nation and festival organizers, Wardruna’s Einar Selvik said the band was excited to get to be so closely involved with the event.

“Wardruna is honored to take part in this one-of-a-kind multi-cultural gathering on the sacred tribal lands of the Blackfeet Nation. Fire In The Mountains is a unique festival to begin with. Their wholehearted focus on the importance of connection to land and culture as well as personal growth as human beings, is something that resonates very much with the work of Wardruna. The festival’s newly formed alliance with the Blackfoot Nation further adds to its potential importance and depth.

“For us, this will be so much more than a concert. It will be a chance to learn and share knowledge. A chance to constructively stand with indigenous needs. A chance to be part of a gathering which genuinely seeks to leave behind long-lasting positive footprints for the hosting land, its people as well as the attending audience and artists. Sustainability, by way of creating a multitude of positive synergies.”

Another distinction with this festival is the fact that since the Blackfeet Nation are involved in the event, it’s a completely dry event, so leave the booze at home.
