This Drone Footage of Spiritbox and Poppy Playing “Soft Spine” at Louder Than Life is Wild
Last Friday, Spiritbox released their latest single “Soft Spine” along with a seriously sick looking music video. It helps the song kicks ass too, but that was last week. During the band’s set at last weekend’s Louder Than Life Fest, the band was joined on stage by Poppy to perform the song and it fucking ruled.
And while that’s great and all, that normally wouldn’t warrant a post here. Maybe on the weekends, but I digress. What makes this worth talking about is the absolutely wild drone footage that was captured during the performance. It looks like this was an officially sanctioned thing, so it’s not like all those times some dickhead flies a drone near performers, often resulting in show disruptions. No, this was planned and the band were in on it the whole time. As a result, what we got was some incredible footage of not just the band’s performance, but of the massive crowd reacting to the tune.
As someone that loves tech and gadgets (and will probably end up buying drones I don’t need once my midlife crisis hits), this is like catnip to me. It’s so cool to see the concert from so many different angles before darting in and out of the stage.
Oh and Poppy sounds great on the track, I guess I should mention that. It turns out that she’d just finished her set at the fest and ran over to the stage that Spiritbox was playing to join vocalist Courtney LaPlante for the one song.
