Gaerea Adds Some Clean Singing to Their Repertoire with “Suspended”
With the release of their more recent singles, Portuguese extreme metal outfit Gaerea have been saying in their promotional material that they’re trying to prove they’re more than the genre that defines them. Today’s release of “Suspended,” the latest single off their fourth full-length album Coma, flies in the face of that — somewhat.
Sure, most of the track has the sort of bombast and fury you’d expect from a black metal song, but there are calm, albeit short-lived melodic parts in the mix too. The song’s significantly more dynamic than past songs from the band as well, as it’s the first to actually feature clean singing. That special designation within the band’s entire catalog sets it apart from the rest.
