Motionless In White Respond to Upset Fans About Lyric Change
I almost forgot Motionless In White has been around for so long. I must be a monster or something. Anyway, the band just re-released their third studio album Reincarnate on vinyl to celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary, but fans noticed something about it instantly. They re-recorded the title track, and some fans were pretty miffed about it.
The vinyl has some new mixes of the title track and “Contemptress,” but it’s the former that’s got everyone’s britches all in a twist. The new version, titled “Reincarnate: Reincarnated” is only missing one word from the lyrics, but I guess it was the most important word of them all. “Bitch” was taken out of the original lyric that went “Bitch you give a fucking aspirin a headache.” It’s funny as hell including the “bitch,” but still ends up sounding like a typical metalcore lyric without it. Fans were so ticked off that they even started the new hashtag #NOTMYREINCARNATE” to talk about the cut on Twitter. It’s really not that serious.
Chris Motionless responded to all the hubbub, stating how the removal wasn’t meant to offend but will be made up for tenfold at some point in the future.
“LOL I didn’t censor the bitch part. I think the whole line is cringe and out of place with the song, but the bitch in there made it even worse to me and I couldn’t stand to do it again,” said the singer, before offering. “Didn’t realize it was a big line for fans. I’ll put an extra one in on the next record. Deal.”
Because Motionless In White fans are little comedians, some of the responses produced a few giggles. “More bitches from Chris? I am IN,” one fan posted on Twitter. “But Chris, we love cringe,” tweeted another.
Since the consensus is to bring back the bitch, I hope they start a hashtag that says that since it is just too perfect.
