Undeath Channel Peter Gabriel with Claymation Video for New Single “Disputatious Malignancy”

That headline may mean nothing to our younger readers. Just know that I’m talking about the style of animation that’s used in the newly released Undeath single “Disputatious Malignancy” and how it reminds me of the classic “Sledgehammer” video, only with a much more brutal song behind the images.

Featured on their forthcoming album More Insane, the track’s heavy as all get out, with a sort of groove that’s undeniable at times. Then the song turns around the minute and 35 second mark and shit gets real.

Speaking of the track itself, vocalist Alexander Jones said “Disputatious Malignancy” pulls inspiration from one of the most influential death metal bands, as well as one of the best From Software video games of all time.

“This was actually one of the last songs written for the album. Kyle (guitars) had an extremely rough demo of it on his phone that I overheard him listening to when we were at Mark’s studio doing pre-production, and just from hearing that I knew it had to be on the record no matter what. Thematically it’s got kind of a Pierced From Within-era Suffocation meets Bloodborne lore vibe and it’s definitely the closest thing we have lyrically to a ‘fuck god/religion’ song, which is kind of new territory for us. It’s fast as shit, bouncy and has a killer duelling squeal-y solo part that I absolutely love.”

More Insane will be released on October 4 via Prosthetic Records, but you can preorder your copy today. Later this month, Undeath will be going on tour throughout the continental United States and some of Canada with Kruelty and Gates to Hell, along with Tribal Gaze and Torture.
