New Docuseries ‘Nöthin’ But A Good Time’ Will Show How Absurd ’80s Hair Metal Was
We all know the ’80s were a fucking crazy time in basically every way. Drugs, sex, and rock n’ roll or whatever that saying is was the definition of metal back then. All of that, plus a lot of hairspray. We’re gonna get a peek inside the outrageous lifestyles of hair metal bands back then thanks to a new docuseries from Paramount+ called Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ‘80s Hair Metal. They just released a trailer for it that you can check out below.
The three-part series is said to show exactly how ludacris bands like Guns N’ Roses, Quiet Riot, Poison, and Def Leppard were, detailing a little of what it was like for them and one of the most ridiculous (in a good way) subgenres of metal to ever hit the scene. It’s based on the book with the same name by Richard Bienstock and Tom Beaujour, and is directed by Jeff Tremaine of Jackass fame, who was also heavily involved in that inadvertently hilarious Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt.
It’ll also include exclusive interviews from Skid Row’s Dave “Snake” Sabo, Stephen Pearcy from Ratt, Bret Micheals from Poison and, randomly, Corey Taylor from Slipknot. Former MTV host Riki Rachtman and everyone’s favorite jackass Steve-O will also be making appearances.
Nöthin’ But a Good Time: The Uncensored Story of ‘80s Hair Metal is set to release on the streaming platform in the US on September 17, launching internationally the following day. I feel like this’ll be one of the more entertaining documentaries to come out in awhile and hopefully, it’ll make us all appreciate hair metal a little more—even if it’s just for the sake of laughing our fuckin asses off. I mean that in the most respectful way, but I highly doubt any of those bands would be offended. It was all about fun back then anyway, drug-wise, sex-wise and music-wise.
