Open Wide for Ripped to Shreds’ New Single “Force Fed”
We had a post yesterday about Andrew Lee’s other project Houkago Grind Time, but now it’s time to talk about the other thing he’s known for — Ripped to Shreds. They’ve got a new album coming out next month and that means we’ve got another peek behind the gatefold as it were with their latest single “Force Fed.”
If you’ve ever listened to Ripped to Shreds before, then you know they have a sound t hat cuts straight to the point. No bullshit, no frills, just pure, unadulterated death metal that comes directly for your throat. Featuring guitars shredding throughout the track, coupled with the rapid machine gun fire on drums and bass, and Lee’s vocal attack front and center, this band knows how to lay down a killer death metal track in 2024.
According to the band, “Force Fed” is all about the legend of Meng Po’s “Elixir of Forgetfulness”, which wipes the dead’s memories clean before they’re reborn in their new life. Lee spoke a little about that in a prepared press release.
“In the infinite hells of the afterlife, you will be dismembered, steamed alive, made to crawl through knives, until your soul is purified of earthly sins. Then you’re force-fed an elixir of forgetfulness so that you can be reborn to sin and to be tortured all over again.”
