Unto Others Announce New Album Never, Neverland, Release Single “Angel of the Night”
Gothic rockers Unto Others are back with the announcement of their third full-length album Never, Neverland set to release on September 20 via Century Media. Boasting a robust tracklist of 16 new songs, the band is hoping to make a good first impression with the album’s first single, “Angel of the Night.”
The band’s frontman Gabriel Franco said this album is being positioned in such a way that he hopes it will make people forget that the band was once called Idle Hands.
“My goal was to push this thing so hard that more people know us as Unto Others. At the end of it, I was burnt out, full of anxiety and raw nerves…
“I had an iron grip over those albums. Every beat needed to be where I wanted it and how I wanted it to sound. With this one, I took a much looser approach and gave the band members a lot more input. This is the first record with Brandon doing backup vocals instead of myself. Even though I still wrote the core of the songs, this one is a much more collaborative effort. I kind of let go of it because I realized it was killing me. And the record came out better for it. It’s the best thing we’ve ever done.”
According to the band, the new album’s sound pulls from inspirations like The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, and even Iron Maiden. To reach that pinnacle, they hired Ghost and The Cult producer Tom Dalgety to really make the album sound unique.
As for the single they released today, titled “Angel of the Night,” Franco said it stemmed from his desire to really write a power ballad for once.
“I’ve always wanted to do a power ballad, and I think this might be the closest we ever get. A goth power ballad maybe. Sebastian’s [Silva, guitarist] solo in this one is my favorite of the record. He really did a phenomenal job.”
Never, Neverland will be released on September 20 via Century Media, but you can preorder your copy today. The band also has a long list of tour dates coming up later this year, so you can check out when and where they’ll be and plan accordingly if you’d like to catch ’em live.
