Nothing Says “How Do You Do, Fellow Kids” Like a Metallica Event in Fortnite

Hey youths, do you like gaming sensation and unknowable thing to us olds Fortnite? Have you been enjoying the game’s endless collaboration with music acts of all genres? If you said yes to both of those things, then make sure you spend time later this month to attend the hottest digital music event featuring a band of 60-year-olds called Metallica?

Because that’s exactly what’s happening staring tomorrow, June 13. For the first time ever, Metallica will apparently be the first band to have an experience across all of the Fortnite properties, including Fortnite Festival, Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and the rest of everything under the Fortnite umbrella. And naturally there will be an in-game concert of six “fan-favorite songs with themed gameplay that complements the intensity of a Metallica live show” titled “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury”.

As you can see in the trailer below, Metallica will also look different depending on where they’re performing. For example, Metallica logos will adorn cars in Rocket Racing and the band itself will look like LEGO minifigs if you watch them playin LEGO Fortnite. Which honestly? Is kinda funny.

There will be six different showtimes set for the following times:

Saturday, June 22, 2024
2 PM ET
5 PM ET
11 PM ET
Sunday, June 23, 2024
10 AM ET
2 PM ET
5 PM ET

That’s not everything, either. Apparently Fortnite’s adding a battle mode to Fortnite Festival where you can compete against other players, not unlike how multiplayer worked in Guitar Hero and Rock Band. According to the press release, “Fortnite Festival’s Battle Stage will see 16 players in a match, all will play from the same four-song setlist, and one will emerge victorious.”

Fortnite is a free-to-play game that’s basically playable anywhere games can be played these days. Seriously, look it up on your device. It’s probably there.
