Atreyu Announce Full Album Performance of The Curse
California metalcore heroes — and the best band to ever be named after a character from The Neverending Story — Atreyu, announced they’re following the recent trend of bands doing full-album plays to celebrate anniversaries of popular albums. The band recently announced on Instagram that they’ll be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 2004 sophomore album The Curse by playing it in full at an upcoming show on October 18 at the House of Blues in Anaheim.
But that’s not where it ends, as both of the other two bands playing will be doing full album plays as well. Eighteen Visions will be playing their 2004 album Obsession in its entirety to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that album, while Death By Stereo will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their brilliantly titled debut If Looks Could Kill, I’d Watch You Die by playing that album in full. It promises to be a full-on metalcore/hardcore nostalgia fest.
Fans on Instagram were very quick to point out the odd part about doing a full album play of The Curse: Alex Varkatzas, who was the lead vocalist on that album, left the band in 2020. Founding member Brandon Saller, who played drums and did backing vocals on the album back in 2004, has since taken over as the band’s lead vocalist and will presumably be doing the vocals for this show.
But, if you want to go see Atreyu become an Alex Varkatzas cover band, tickets go on sale today here.
