Where do you go when you want crossover-thrash but don’t want to take the subject matter too seriously? I’d suggest starting with Louisville, Kentucky’s very own madcap bastards Belushi Speed Ball and their newest release Stellkira, which features songs about pizza and a serial killer Garth Brooks, among other things.

You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To (Pure Noise)
As one of biggest rising stars in hardcore, Knocked Loose’s third full-length promises to only push their popularity even further into the stratosphere. Featuring the same drag down, bare-knuckle fury in their sound and the piercing vocal stylings of Bryan Garris, You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To is a 10-track package of explosive aggression.
Six Feet Under
Killing For Revenge (Metal Blade Records)
Set as probably one of the more divisive releases of the week, Six Feet Under returns with their latest full-length, Killing For Revenge. Whether you like this album or not will largely hinge on whether you enjoy Chris Barnes’ vocal delivery or not, which remains consistent with the rest of the band’s discography.
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats
Nell’ Ora Blu (Rise Above)
Never ones to shy away from doing their own damn thing, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats return not with a stoner, doomy, occult psych rock album, but rather with a cinematic score to an Italian thriller movie that doesn’t exist. It’s dark, eerie, and eccentric listening that maybe doesn’t meet the metal criteria per se, but these guys rule so I’m including it.
Unleash The Archers
Phantoma (Napalm Records)
Power metal powerhouse Unleash The Archers is back with another slab of big, anthemic tunes to get your blood pumping ahead of your next Dungeons & Dragons session. Featuring all the hallmarks of a good power metal release, it’s the perfect release this week if you dig epic tunes and enjoy soaring vocals.
